Series tickets are $30. Individual tickets are $7

Under the guidance of Rochelle Koenig and Muriel Fields we started small, just a room in the Weston Library with probably 50 in the audience. The response was so great, that we soon moved to the Weston 8 Cinema with one movie on the second Monday of each month, from November through the following March. By our third year, we needed to rent two auditoriums in the theater and present an early and late show of each film. Last year, for our fifth season, we completely sold out both venues for two of our presentations.

The films run the gamut from comedy to drama and will move you from laughter to tears. Starting with Queen to Play on Monday, November 14th, there will be one film each month through March 12, 2012. Each will be shown twice, at 5:00 P.M. and 7:15 P.M., at the Weston 8 Cinema. All foreign language films will have English subtitles.

Si Puo Fare movie Monday, December 12, 2011
SI PUO FARE - Italian / 2008 - Nello loses his job and ends up managing a group of ex-mental patients. When they are denied psychiatric help, he invents new occupational roles for each of them. This film walks a fine line between farce and compassion, and comedy and drama.

Copacabana movie Monday, January 9, 2012
COPACABANA - French / 2010 - Babou, living a carefree life, shrugs off everything - jobs, husbands, responsibilities. When her daughter is too ashamed of her to invite her to her wedding, Babou has to change. Can she find a job and a proper wedding gift, but still remain true to herself?

ENTRE NOS - Spanish / 2009 - Mariana’s children have grown up in Columbia without their father. After years of separation, the family is reunited in New York. Then Antonio announces that he has found work in Miami and will send for them. When Mariana does not hear from him, and with only $50 left, she must find a way for her family to survive.

After the 5:00 P.M. showing of this film, Antonio Fins, Sun Sentinel Editorial Page Editor, will lead a Question and Answer period

THE WHITE COUNTESS - British / 2005 - Fleeing Russian Countess, Sophia and her family find refuge in Shanghai in 1936. She supports the family by working as bar girl and taxi dancer, but forms an alliance with a former diplomat, owner of an elegant bar. Their relationship blossoms until the City falls to the Japanese invaders.
